Step 1 is where you identify issues in the future scene. This step lays the groundwork for all steps in the future, and it helps you to understand the context of the future scene. Not all boxes have to be filled out in one go, rather, the recommended strategy is to do about half so there is enough material for Step 2, and come back to finish the Step 1’s later.
Components:
Evidence from Future Scene
What issue is created
The ramifications of the issue
The parameters
Notes:
Make sure to create a singular flow of logic, not a “circle.” For example, saying “global warming causes temperatures to rise around the world” is circular logic, because global warming is a rise in temperature around the world. However, saying “global warming causes sea levels to rise around the world” instead creates a singular flow of logic. This is key for building a good foundation in Step 1. Clarity is also necessary, because without it, graders won’t be able to understand your ideas.
